Currently, my favorite Web Part, hands down, is the Content Editor Web Part (CEWP). In the coming weeks, I'll be posting a series of examples demonstrating how you can alter the style and/or behavior of any Web Part Page using the CEWP without unghosting the instance of that page. You can then make these effects available to your end users via the Site Gallery or the Virtual Server Gallery. See my previous blog post with how to deploy it. Very cool stuff, but I digress...
Today I want to share my Google Search Web Part with you:

Since this Web Part is based on the Content Editor Web Part, you already have the assembly needed to run this Web Part. It is contained in the microsoft.sharepoint.dll. Therefore, you only need to downloaded my DWP, unzip it, and place it into a Web Zone on your Web Part Page.
Note: The icon used by the Web Part in the Tool Pane and the icon on the left edge of the Web Part are referencing images on the Internet. So, if you are not connected to the Internet you will see an image placeholder instead.
Here are some of the features:
- Click on the "G" icon to open a new browser window that defaults to http://www.google.com.
- Type keywords into the textbox and click or click on the Go button.
- The Go button has the same rollover and click presentation as SPS.
- Search results are opened in a new browser if the New checkbox is checked (the default).
- Change the Web Part's chrome to have a different Title than Google Search OR remove the Title Bar entirely using the standard Appearance properties in the Tool Pane.
Please contact me if you have problems with the Web Part or you enhance it with additional features.
Enjoy,
<Todd />
